This blog follows my journey as I quit topical steroids for my eczema. I will chart my observations during the weeks that follow.
The blog is not intended to give medical advice. If you are concerned about a medical condition you should consult a doctor for advice.
Yes Wynter, it just limited to my face, the rest of me is fine and I honestly think my whole body is fully healed apart from my face. To be fair though, it did get a LOT of steroid over a long period of time.
The sun is out, so I will try and catch some rays while I can. I'm also going to go back on the D3 vitamin. I'm not using anything on my face whilst it is like this, as everything seems to aggravate it.
I'm hoping it will die down quickly. Goodness knows why it goes like this in autumn after being healed in summer. Ugh.
Oh Louise, I am so sorry. My face looks like that at the moment as well, still part of this lingering two year anniversary flare. It is so defeating that we can look so normal for so many months and then just wake up one day looking like this. Hang in there. I hope it passes quickly!
Hi Louise, Hope it clears for you quickly. When did sun start helping you through TSW?? My face and everywhere else continues to flare up and down everyday still. Am onto mth 8 and the sun and heat just seem to exacerbate it, which is a drag.
The sun started helping me after I was past the initial few months and the burning hot skin phase.
Sun makes TSW worse in the early months, but can be really useful later on in the process.
Luckily, we have plenty of sun here in the UK right now and I spent a good portion of yesterday and today sitting out. The flare redness has faded considerably.
It looks like the flare is on the way out thanks to the sunshine!
Caroline, 8 months might still be a bit early for you to use sunlight as a therapy. Maybe wait until you are past the 12 month mark?
That sucks big time. I'm so sorry. I was almost healed on my hands over the summer and now they are flaring like mad; I can barely type. So discouraging. Hope your face heals up again soon. HG xx
Gosh Louise, so sorry to see this. September/October is your ‘illness anniversary’ isn’t it? Some interesting things come up in google for this search term but I don’t suppose that’s much consolation when this is the upshot of it all for you. Many hugs x
Yep. It's my steroid-versary. My body loves to celebrate.
I was actually going to post something new today, because these pictures have been here too long, but I'm a bit red and flaky again today after a good week.

Bloody hell! Poor you, Louise!! Hope it goes away soon. Elaine x
I do too!
I know it's not what people want to see right now, but I've always been totally honest about the course of the healing process.
On the positive side, it's ONLY my face affected and not a full body flare, so I'm hoping that this means I'm winning the fight.
Thing is, I've healed before and will again. I just have to ride it out. I'm used to that by now,
Hope you are OK too Elaine. X
Thanks Mandy. I hope your flare passes quickly too.
TSW is a marathon. We will get there in the end lol.

Hi Gazelle,
It's been a couple of days since I posted this and the flare has died down now.
I think it was a "flash flare".
Sorry to hear about your hands. Get well soon. X
It must be so deflating for you flaring so late on in your withdrawal. I hope it passes quickly for you x
It's ok, the flare is gone and my skin looks OK now.
I've just been lazy posting any update pictures, sorry.
